10 Dragons chosen for national carnival
10 Dragons have been selected to represent their respective states at the upcoming 2021 NAB AFL U19 Championships, beginning this week.
Finn Callaghan, Luke Cleary, Blake Howes, Caleb Lewis, Mitch Owens, Josh Sinn, Dante Visentini and Marcus Windhager have all been included in the Vic Metro squad, while Campbell Chesser will represent Vic Country, and Jack Peris will represent the Northern Territory and combined Allies squad, made up of the top players from the Northern Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and the ACT.
Vic Metro’s first game was scheduled for July 8 against Peris and the Allies squad, but was postponed due to COVID restrictions. Instead, Vic Metro will instead face Vic Country in a "challenge" match, on Friday, July 8 at Windy Hill, at 12pm.
The carnival presents a fantastic opportunity for players to impress recruiters against the top talent of the draft pool across the country.
In a change from previous years, the majority of carnival games will be held late in the NAB League season, across August and September, rather than the June/July school holiday period.
Metro’s game against Country tomorrow will be streamed on the AFL website and on the AFL app.
